Smart Talk launches corporate
call barring service
Smart Talk: effective call screening
| Staff, Brand Republic
07:00 18-08-2004 LONDON – Smart Talk has
developed a call suppression service for businesses that wish to
remain compliant to the Corporate Telephone Preference Service.
Smart Talk says it will route outbound traffic via a
telephone carrier and that each call made is automatically screened
against the TPS database.
Each month the updated TPS list is
uploaded to the telephone call barring tables and, if a TPS number
has been dialled unknowingly, a recorded message will confirm the
number has been barred.
Smart Talk claims the service is so
accurate it is willing to accept all liabilities in the unlikely
event a registered number is dialled through its service.
The
company claims no extra equipment is required to sign up to the
service and many companies can use it to back up other schemes.
For example, it will block calls to newly registered numbers
contained in a list that had not been checked against the TPS or the
Corporate TPS for a couple of months.
Smart Talk helps
businesses to improve their customer service activities and reduce
costs on voice, data, mobility and unified communications.
The extension of TPS to include businesses became effective
in June. Direct marketers are now legally required to check and
comply with the Corporate TPS registrations or risk a fine of up to
£5,000.
As many as 70% of directors at marketing agencies are
unaware of the Corporate TPS, according to data consultancy
Alchemis. The service prevents businesses from receiving unsolicited
telemarketing calls.
